<-- BACK TO NEWS A Winning Night For Dylan Sunday, August 10 was a regular night of racing at Eagle Valley Speedway and was also the second night of a two-night racing special presented by Tim’s Automotive and Flip Flop Grill. The WISSOTA/Amsoil Modifieds had a terrible time getting their feature going with four successive cautions prior to the completion of lap one. Caution one occurred when Bryan Nayes spun coming out of turn one collecting Robby Bunkelman with both drivers being able to continue. Caution two occurred when Tim Shackleton’s car stalled in turn four on the restart with his night being done. Caution three occurred during the next restart when Cory Crapser spun in turns three and four with everyone able to continue. Caution four occurred when Dan Hesch spun in turns one and two on the next restart and his night was done. The field then went to single file with Cory Crapser in the lead followed by Paul Knauf. Crapser led the first lap, but it was apparent that Knauf had the faster car and Knauf led the race beginning with lap two. With Knauf in the lead the race then ran caution-free until the checkered flag with Knauf taking command, Mike Anderson right on his tail for the remainder of the race, threatening to pass on many occasions, Craig Thatcher close behind Anderson, Kevin Adams running fourth right behind Thatcher and Mark Hanson a few car lengths back in fifth. In WISSOTA/Amsoil Super Stock action, Steve Hallquist and Shane Kisling led the field to the green flag with Kisling jumping to an early lead. Kisling led the first six laps. After a debris caution, racing resumed, with Kisling again having a great restart. Once again, Kisling assumed the lead with Steve Hallquist losing the second spot to Rod Dregney, while Mark Stender ran fourth and Aaron Wilson ran fifth. A spinning Jeff Dregney, coming out of turn three, resulted in a caution after lap thirteen. On the restart, Kisling again shot to the lead with Rod Dregeny giving chase and all others in the top five hanging onto their spots. Another caution after lap sixteen occurred when Ryan Olson’s car made heavy contact with the back stretch wall ending his night. On the restart, Jeff Dregney spun coming out of turn two resulting once again in a yellow flag that then resulted in a multi-car wreck when cars checked up, the end result being Rod Dregney’s night being done due to heavy damage. Kisling once again shot to the lead with Steve Hallquist in second, Stender in third, Shawn Huse in fourth and Aaron Wilson in fifth. With two laps to go Kisling continued to lead with Hallquist in second, Huse third, Stender dropped to fourth, and Aaron Wilson held on for fifth. The top five remained the same for the final two laps. This ended a very successful weekend for Kisling in the Gary Field car as he picked up his second win in as many nights with Kisling having won at ABC Raceway in Ashland on Saturday night. In WISSOTA/Amsoil Midwest Modified action John Moravec and Jason Swan started on the front row with Moravec taking an early lead. At the end of lap two, though, it was Brad Hudson, who had started sixth, in command with Moravec dropping to second. By lap three, Jason Swan had taken over the second spot while Hudson continued to lead. After lap five, there was a caution with Ronnie Rihn being credited with the caution and with him being sent to the back. The restart saw Hudson in the lead with Swan in second. Swan then spun coming out of turn two and was sent to the back. Shane Halopka, who had started seventh, quickly moved up from fifth to take second, Mark Thomas, coming all the way from sixteenth, moved into third, Mark Gerth, who had started ninth, ran fourth, and Ryan Olson, who had started twelfth, ran fifth. Another caution, after lap eleven for a spinning Casey Manor, reset the field and Hudson once again took the lead, Halopka ran second, Thomas ran third, Gerth ran fourth, and Michael Turscott ran fifth. With two laps to go, Halopka put a move on Hudson for the lead, and took the lead while Hudson dropped to second, Gerth moved into third, Thomas hung on for fourth and Truscott ran fifth. At the checkered it was Halopka taking his seventeenth win of the year with Hudson, Gerth, Truscott, and Thomas rounding out the top five. The WISSOTA/Amsoil Street Stocks came to the start with Sam Fankhauser and Quinn Arnoldy on the front row. Fankhauser was in the lead at the end of lap one and Jay Kesan, who had started fourth, was in second. Kesan went for the lead early in lap two, taking the lead with Clark Swartz, who had started sixth in hot pursuit and Fankhauser dropped to fourth, while Arnoldy ran third and Darryll Foegen, who had started eighth, ran fifth. Lap six saw Swartz successfully pass Kesan for the lead while Tommy Richards, who had started seventh moved into third, Fankhauser in fourth and Foegen in fifth. A caution occurred after lap eight when Fankhauser’s car went up in smoke. Once racing resumed, Swartz took the lead with Kesan giving chase while Tommy Richards departed from the track and Danny Hanson moved into fifth from his ninth-place starting spot. Hanson picked up one more spot by lap twelve, but then dropped off into the pits as well with what appeared to be problems with the front end of his car. Swartz maintained his lead until the checkered, with Kesan in second still trying for the win. Rounding out the top five were: Foegen, Crystal Hanson, who had started tenth and had the best run of her Street Stock career thus far, and Josh Amans, who started fifth. In Eagle Valley Pure Stock action, Kyle Bitney and Tyler Wahlstrom were on the front row, ready for action. Bitney led the first lap, but Danny Richards would soon put an end to that, taking the lead by the end of lap two. With Richards in the lead, Cody Kummer, who had started third, tagged onto Richard’s bumper for second while Bitney and George Richards fought it out for third and Doug Wojcik, who had started seventh settled in for fifth. By race end, Danny Richards had completed a sweep and picked up his nineteenth win of the year, Cody Kummer finished second and George Richards, Doug Wojcik, and Simon Wahlstrom rounded out the top five. The Eagle Valley Hornets came to the line with Jerry Zebro and Bob Anderson on the front row. Rocky Kempe, who had started fourth led by the end of lap one with Bob Anderson in second, Brittany Olson, who had started third, in third, Travis Anderson, who had started fifth, in fourth, and Zebro in fifth. The order did not change until lap seven when Olson moved into second with Bob Anderson dropping to third. By lap eight, Travis Anderson had passed Bob Anderson for third and the first three cars ran bumper to bumper. With just one lap to go, the leader, Rocky Kempe, lost his left front wheel coming into turn four and Brittany Olson shot past for the win to complete the sweep. Rounding out the top five were: Travis Anderson, Bob Anderson, Zebro, and Mackenzie Olson, who had started sixth. The race night had special meaning for fifteen-year-old Dylan Crabb as he wheeled the EVS Hornet and the CQ Eagle Valley Pure Stock around the track for both feature races. Dylan is not a regular driver at Eagle Valley, but he had a wish. The wish of this young leukemia patient, who was going into bone marrow treatment the next day, was to drive a race car. Dylan did an excellent job in both cars and we hope that this experience provided a great memory for this young man. The fans, racers, and track responded with their hearts and their checkbooks by donating somewhere around $1,200.00 to Dylan. This all puts things in proper perspective, which is that nothing is as precious as life itself! Also, when racers and race fans can help, they will! We wish Dylan the best and hope that all goes well and he will live a long and happy life. Please keep Dylan in your thoughts and in your prayers and give your kids an extra hug.
