OFFICIAL 2008 Pure Stock Rules
The sole intent of this class is to provide a low cost entry level class of race cars. These cars are to be strictly stock and are intended to stay that way! Any deviation from this intent or the rules set forth, will not be tolerated and the car will be disqualified from this class. Official decisions will be final….
CAR AND BODY
1. Car must be stripped of all chrome moldings, emblems, all pot metal, plastic and fiberglass to keep the track clean. Any 1950 or newer sedan is eligible. NO PICK-UPS, RANCH-EROS, EL CAMINOS, 4WD VEHICLES, OR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED.
2. Minimum stock wheelbase allowed will be 108” full frame. NO CAMEROS, FIREBIRDS, ETC. 110” unibody with sub-frame installed.
3. Driver protection roll bars are required. No roll bar may alter the geometry of the car in any manner. It can be used only to keep the car off the driver in case of a roll-over. Six(6) point roll cage of 1 5/8” tubing minimum. (Braced Box) CAGE MUST BE FRAME TO FRAME AND ABOVE DRIVERS HEAD. The cage may extend back to the rear bumper, but may not extend any further forward than the rear of the “A” frames.
4. Gas tank must be moved to the trunk and shield driver. Original tank must be removed and a fuel cell used. Pump gas only. Suggested fuel tank size: 22 gallon tank or less. (12 preferred) As of 2006 – NO 32 gallon tanks are allowed.
5. BUMPERS MUST BE ANCHORED SECURELY BY BEING WELDED, CHAINED OR
BOLTED TO BODY. NO SHARP EDGES ALLOWED.
6. No bracing of any kind any place on the car.
7. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut. 1” x 1” x 6’ long protection bar can be added to the outside of the door.
8. All glass must be removed from the car. NO BROKEN GLASS LEFT IN CAR !!!!
9. All of the burnable interior must be removed from the car.
10. All floor pans and firewalls, both front and rear, must be in place with no cutting of any kind, or any place on the body. The body must remain stock. Wheel clearance may be cut. Driveshaft loop is suggested, or drive shaft strap, to enclose the driveshaft to the body.
One or the other is mandatory.
11. Racing seat belts with shoulder harnesses must be in place and used. Belts may be no older than 3 years old.
12. THE COMPLETE BUMPER TO BUMPER STOCK CAR MUST BE RETAINED.
THERE WILL BE NO ALTERATION OF ANY KIND TO ANY PART OF THE CAR.
NO SECTIONING, CHANNELING, CHOPPING OR ANY OTHER ALTERATION
WILL BE ALLOWED. HOODS MUST BE KEPT IN PLACE AT ALL TIMES.
WHEEL RADIUS ONLY MAY BE CUT.
13. Driver protection bars must be on the inside of the car.
14. FIRE EXTINGUISHER MANDATORY !!! Must be securely mounted within the drivers reach.
15. Aluminum radiators will be allowed.
SUSPENSION
1. No modifications of the suspension is allowed at all. All parts must remain absolutely stock. NO spacer, NO chains, NO alterations of any kind to the suspension
at all. No racing suspension allowed at all. NO LEAD at all……………

2. Both front wheels may be reinforced to prevent their loss during the race. All wheels must be painted a light color - EXAMPLE: white, bright silver,etc. as to be seen easily in the event of loss during the race. All wheels MUST use over-size lugnuts. All wheels are to be strictly stock for the car being
used or white steel spoke wheels will be allowed on both sides. No off-set wheels allowed. 7” width maximum wheel width
ENGINE
1. Engines which are standard bore must use stock pistons. Engines may be bored to a maximum overbore size of .040, from the standard bore size. Stock type cast aluminum dished pistons, with a minimum recess of .040 MUST be used in any engine with an overbore. All engines, including those that are over-bored from standard size must still adhere to the maximum of 160# per cylinder compression rule.
2. The engine must be the same make as chassis:
( GM to GM ) ( Ford to Ford-Mercury-Lincoln ) ( Mopar to
Dodge-Plymouth-Chrysler ) Must have original mounts and may not be altered in any way. NO AUDIBLE CAMS !! STOCK CAMS ONLY!!
3. Motors:
- 307 Olds, 305 Chev, 302 Ford, 318 Mopar ONLY.
- No fuel injection, no turbo.
- No racing fuel or additives
- 410 lift may advertised +/- .010
- Stock specs for lift duration and lobe center.
- No angle milling or performance enhancing work on heads or block.
- No Vortex heads.
- No grinding of any castings.
- No valve spring shims.
- Stock heads ONLY.
- 1.86 valve max. 1.5 exhaust max.
- No interchanging of rocker arms, ratios.
- No offset key in crank.
- No screw-in studs.
- No roller cams.
- No degreeing of cam.
- No balanced motors.
- Quad (for GM) Motorcraft (for Ford).
- Stock ignition only (Stock Working Order).
- No center dump manifolds
- No 1987 or newer truck manifolds.
- Engine compression LIMITED to a maximum of 160# per cylinder. “0”
Tolerence.
- No honeycone valve springs allowed.
- No leaked down lifters allowed.
Meaning: STOCK ENGINE PARTS ( not aftermarket )
TIRES
1. Tires must be STOCK PASSENGER tires only. No truck, all-terrain, snow or any other specialty tires allowed. Passenger all-weather tires allowed. NO RACING TIRES ALLOWED !!
The only other tire that can be used is a HOOSIER 500.
2. Maximum 7” tires, 78 series or 70 metric.
3. No shaving, grooving or any other alterations allowed to the tires .
CARBURATION
1. No Dual feeding carbs.
2. No electric fuel pumps.
3. Quad for GM/Chrysler & Motorcraft for Ford. Stock air cleaner.
4. Two barrel holley 500 - 2 barrel 4412 is allowed.
5. Same spacer plate as Street Stocks.
TRANSMISSION AND REAR ENDS
1. Stock only. Locked rear ends allowed.
NO POSITRACTION OR LIMITED SLIP ALLOWED.
2. Automatic transmission only. Stock working torque converters only. NO POWER GLIDES.
3. Mark Williams axles or Moser Axles will be allowed.
MISCELLANEOUS
1. Batteries must be strapped in securely anywhere under the hood or in the trunk, unless pre-approved by promoter to another location. No truck style batteries. Battery must be under the hood or trunk.
No batteries bigger than 7 x 7 x 11.
Any batteries bigger than this will be disqualified.
2. All glass must be removed as well as all interior PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT THE TRACK.
3. Loss of tire or wheel or flat tire means that you must leave the track immediately.
4. No unsportsmanlike display of temper on the track or the infield at any time.
5. Full face Snell 85 rated helmet, firesuit, window net and seat belts are MANDATORY at all times when on the track.
6. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed until all classes of racing are finished.
VIOLATIONS TO THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION !!!
7. Pitmen are not allowed on the track at any time, including after the completion of the race.
8. Anything not covered in the rules will be decided by the track officials. Officials decision will be final!
9. 18” numbers must be displayed on both doors and the roof.
10. Steel screen to cover at least half of windshield opening. Window nets are MANDATORY.
11. 4 wheel brakes MANADATORY.
12. Drive shafts must be painted white. Safety loop MANDATORY towards front of drive shaft.
13. One of the top five (5) cars from the feature will be pumped each week.
If found illegal, the following fines and/or penalties may be imposed.
Final penalty decisions will be made under the track officials discretion.
Loss of the specific nights track points and pay.
First offense will result in a $ 200.00 fine, plus a 2 night race
suspension.
Second offense will result in a $ 500.00 fine, plus suspension from the
Pure Stock class indefinitely.
Fine must be paid prior to driver racing in any other class at the Eagle Valley Speedway.
14. PROTEST: Any driver may protest one (1) car / per night.
$ 50.00 must be handed to an official before the feature race starts, along with a written protest.
If car is found illegal:
$ 50.00 will be returned to the protester.
If car is found to be legal:
$ 50.00 wil go to the legal car.
15. Exhaust MUST extend beyond the drivers seat. Oval off set muffler ONLY.
16. All cars will be Safety Inspected prior to being allowed to race. If any car is found to be unsafe by the officials, that car will not be allowed to race until the infraction is corrected.
ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN ( 18 ) ENTERING THE PITS, MUST HAVE A
SIGNED & NOTARIZED “ MINOR RELEASE FORM ”. (Notarization is available at EVS.) NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF FOURTEEN ( 14 ) WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PITS.
